Are these white marks normal on an IPS monitor?

I've recently bought an IPS monitor Dell S2216H. When the screen is white, I see two big spots. Is this the IPS glow everyone has been talking about or is it backlight bleed? Is this normal or should I replace the product immediately?

So what conclusions were reached when the others reported it?

I can sympathise with something like this on a screen being so marked that it becomes an irritant but you really should try googling 'what is backlight bleed on a monitor'. It exists and one either lives with it or one doesn't. In your particular case, going by the photograph, I can't help wondering if you are looking for it or for IPS glow or whatever. I can't say I have ever experienced either but that's maybe because I didn't know what to look for and have therefore never looked. How did you spot yours? Or did you see others had an issue with spots and therefore looked for them.

It apparently is limited or at a generally tolerable level in cases where the company has...

Several people using this monitor has this issue on the exact same spot. Is it backlight bleed then?

If it is so obvious it bothers you, then try returning it.

I have seen people on Amazon showing this issue and it seems it's in the same spot as mine. It's only irritating on white backgrounds like web browsing. I just want to know if its normal and I should stop worrying about that

Or presumably here, in this thread, too- yes?

It's normal inasmuch as it's a known phenomenon but unless anyone contradicts me I don't think it's anything to worry about. Only you can decide whether you can ignore it or not. If you can't ignore it, and you think it's going to annoy you more and more see if you can get it rectified or the monitor changed or your purchase cancelled and the money refunded..

If you bought it through Amazon I think you have thirty days to return it. Check the Amazon site for the returns procedures -say it's a mistaken purchase - no need to get involved in a whole lot of detail. Keep it simple- not what expected - changed my mind.

Good luck
