Are triple fan GPU coolers actually better than dual fans

I'm looking to buy a 1080 or 1080Ti and I've been trying to decide which cooler is best. I've been looking at the Gigabyte, ROG, or MSI Duke cards with triple fans since my current EVGA ACX 780 gets pretty hot and the fans can get kind of loud. Will three 90mm fans actually make a difference compared to two 100mm fans? I will also be OCing to 2Ghz.

The number of fans is not the deciding factor on that.
Wait for some reviews of each model (doubt you will see them in stock before then anyway) and then decide.

It depends, a dual Fan MSI is probably just as good or better than a Triple fan Gigabyte card.

Honestly in this case its more dependent on the heatsink design itself.
