Rather than listen to the ups and down of endless specs, I'd like to hear the end user's opinion. To hell with specs, I want satisfaction! Are you happy with your monitor? Why are you happy with it? Do you wish you would have bought a different one? Which one and why? Where did you get it? Everyone GO!

I have the Samsung 955DF, bought it back in December 2000. I'm satisfied with it. At the time, it was $100CAD cheaper than other 19" flat screen monitors.

i have a sony g420s 19" flat trinitron. i am satisfied. although i expected to be exstatic, i am used to the sharp text of an lcd. but the other day when i was using some "regular" shadow mask 17" monitors i definetly noticed a difference. i would say the sony monitor was well worth the money.

repeat after me, we are all individuals!

Iiyama's Vision Master Pro 454 is a 19" Diamondtron CRT with a 0.25mm pitch and 18" viewable size. It also features 2 analog 15-pin D-Sub connectors and a USB hub.

I been using the computer for 3-4 yrs now, playing games and such. After getting the Iiyama's monitor, it has brought new meaning to gaming and computing. I am a Somebody, and Worthy, now that I have my Iiyam's.

Without hesitation I got one of the best sound speakers I could find.

Creative Labs Cambridge Soundworks MegaWorks 510D Speaker Retail 24bit/96kHz data rate signals. 500 total Watts

Now I'm laughing, getting spooked, cranking up the sound, just having a blast playing MOAA.

It's like having a few beers at a good party, I can't stop, and I don't want to leave. Since buying the Iiyama monitor and speakers, I also bought, a new mobo, ram, OS, sound card, WD1200, fans, Gf4 4400, and probably some other stuff that I can't remember, and I don't think I'm done yet.

I new I wanted to make some updates in time, but the Iiyama monitor has caused me to lose control, added new meaning to gaming. I'm like a proud father 😛

Hey Baby, want to play with my computer?

Thanks for the post fellas! What's MOAA, Jiffy?

I too, just received my Iiyama Vision Master Pro 454. I am VERY satisfied. Setup wasn't difficult and now I have to teach myself NOT to squint!!! I haven't put it through all the pases yet, but i've checked text at the corners and edges and have no complaints. Ran it up to 1920x1440 and it look really cool (though i won't run it at that setup while coding). The USB hub and dual inputs in the back are nice added bonuses. Hope this helps!

I was really impressed with the NEC FE950+. The picture quality is just as clear as a sony but I think the color is even more vibrant. Not too many 19" monitors for under $300 can do 1920x1440... and 1600x1200 is perfect with a high refresh rate. I'm also pretty happy with the 'refurbished' 21" Sony G520 I bought off Ubid for less than $400... the thing is flawless and except for the label on the outside of the box I would have never guessed it was a refurb.

Gah, I can't find prices or a link to that monitor! Where can I find some?

They shipped it direct from the factory. I had it two days later, double boxed (really heavy). I think I paid 467 total.

I have the LG 915FT+ and it's great. The text is readable, the on screen display is nice, and it truly is flat. I think the buttons that control the OSD are heat-sensitive or something because I just barely have to brush the buttons with my finger for them to activate. Gives it a space-age feel. :)

I got a sony G410,

great monitor.
After looking at the fish bowl monitors they have at work,
comming home to use the computer is a new experience.

Absolutely!

I just picked up a 24" Sony Multiscan W900 the other day.

Massively large and crystal clear colors. It weights 92.5 lbs.

:)

The only thing I don't like about it, is because its a widescreen it does play all games with the aspect ratio of what I want. If anyone knows how to fix that, I'm all ears.

I think this is a good thread to keep going; user opinions can be very useful when searching for that "perfect" display.

I've got a 22" Iiyama Vision Master Pro 510. It's the best display I've ever seen under $1000.00, bar none. I wouldn't part with it for anything. I've had various Sony, Viewsonic, KDS, Samsung, and NEC monitors over the years ... but none of them were in the same league as the Iiyama.

I've had several people take a look at it while watching DVD's or playing games and offer to buy it from me. They went home empty-handed.

Am I satisfied with my monitor? Are you kidding? I can't rate it high enough to convey how pleased I am. I can use this monitor for hours on end without any kind of eye strain. The colors are bright and vivid. The text is sharp, and easy to read. The display adjustments don't require fluency in a foreign language to decipher, and they are easy to use. It has several user presets, a high RAMDAC, and supports a resolution up to 2048x1536x32@60. You can play a game with this monitor at 1920x1080x32@85.

What more could someone want?

For a 17", I like my Dell (Sony) Trinitron monitor. I think it looks awesome.

I am not satisfied with my Samsung Syncaster 550s (15"). It's geometry is bad @1024 X 768 res. which I use. My eye also gets tired if I use pc for few hours. It's radiation seems bit higher than my older ViewSonic E40 monitor, though both are MPR-II certified. Anyway, I can't buy a new monitor at this moment, so I have to stick with this monitor; sadly.

i am very disappointed with my monitor.it is a LG 795 Ft+ and it's geometry is poor...convergence is another matter...and this truly flat screen really sucks because when u look at the center of the screen icons and text seem good but when u go far away from the center of the screen icons and text seem expanded...try this experiment, (i have heard it from Jim Witkowski) take a flashlight and aim it at a wall directly there seem the light is sharp and round but when u aim it further from center light seems oval and spread out..this is what is happening on LG Flat-suck monitors...so if u really care about these stuff don't buy LG else u would buy a crap... and i have tried several models of LG ( i have returned Lg monitors for 6 times) there seem a spot or dirt or something in the inner surface of the glass...i have noticed that [-peep-] 3 of the Lg's...so don't get caught on Lg crap go get another monitor...now i am thinking to buy a new monitor in several months.i think Nec or Sony will be a good choice...i won't buy any monitor built by Korean manufacturers... i'll choose Japanese ones...

I'm very satisfied with my 17'' Samsung 757DFX monitor. goes up to 1920x1440 and has a refresh rate of 75Hz by 1600x1200 comes with very useful programs and look cool and solid. Its flat like a still water. OSD menu is wonderful has many functions

...I have a 15" Sony monitor...it's OK as far as 15" monitors go, but it's still crap..

...I'm saving up for a 17" iiyama LCD...costs nearly 1000 Euro...

I've owned enough monitors to say this: Premium monitors aren't worth squat over well built ordinary monitors. I'm now using a Dell P991 because it was cheap and matches my case. Previously I used a Viewsonic A90 because it was cheap and had an excellent tube, Hitachi .22mm dp, semi flat. And before that I used a Gateway monitor with the same tube. The Viewsonic didn't have a better picture than the Gateway, it had the same picture.

Mostly if you get a monitor with a decent tube, you get a decent monitor. $169 for a 19" is reasonable, anything more is throwing money away, anything less is bonus.

The best picture I've seen on a fully flat tube was a Samsung, because it was really fine, .20mm dp I believe. Even though the monitor was only officially spec'd at 1600x1200, I had no problem running it 1920x1440. But being 17", it was too small for me.

A lot of flat tubes are grainy. If you just go by dot pitch and stay away from budget brands you should be fine.
