Yep. You get someone you don't know that whoops your ass and all of
a sudden you are a "camper". Never mind that you cap a few times, these
Tender Morsels are so used to beating up less skilled players that when
one comes along and matches them on a particular map, the three newly
sprouted hairs on some little boys balls get all ruffled.
"It's a guy" is the first reaction. Amazing. Says so much about
the mindset of MOST players of Quake 3; young, male chauvinistic with
tiny little fragile egos to go along with the mentality of such ilk.
Then it moves on to the so-called "ultimate" put-down these neolithic
dipshits can come up with that they seem to think will hurt the most.
"wise and beautiful woman". Well said Sir Bed-Wetter!
Now we have the morons over at the Area 51 servers. Classic
authoritarian misogynists. An admin, apparently frustrated at his team
being literally beaten like a red-headed step-child, accuses me, the
apparent lone female playing out of a field of about 20 players of
"camping". Yeah I capped and I played defense. Did a bit of it all.
But Sir Bed-Wetter needed to vent, needed an outlet. I must have seemed
a prime target because of my demographic. The threat of a BAN is
announced. Delightful.
I can come to no conclusion other than Area 51 is made up of
nervous, mentally thrashed juveniles who have been beaten down in life by
parents and peers and use their server as a crutch for the percieved
slights society has thrown at them.
There is no room for just having fun, learning what competition is
supposed to be all about and the possibility of making friends in what
could potentially be an excellent social tool. It's all just too
serious. Threats, petty tyrannies and bullying seem to be the order of
the day at Area 51, all accomplished with a keystroke or two. Such is
the nature of a fragile mind and what limited power is given to some.
