"3.5 billion chips in the last quarter"
14 billion chips a year (assuming all quarters equal). That is an amazing feat, to put it in perspective this is probably twice the number of x86 chips sold by Intel and AMD together in all their history.

Shouldn't the title be "Thanks to Apple?

They have already shipped a couple hundred million ARMv8 iPhones and iPads while the rest of the mobile device vendors are only just starting to get their ARMv8 devices to market.

So if ARM did actually get a significant revenue boost due to ARMv8, then it's because of Apple.

ARM chips are used in everything from expensive smartphones all the way down to $20 helicoptors. ARM processors are also used in smart cards and even in SIM cards. When you add up all those devices you can see how they can get to that 3.5 billion number in a single quarter.
