I have seen videos around the internet and forum post and such, claiming to max out this game on a GTX 560 ti or 570 with no performance issues. Like this guy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScQRQPypXs4
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-(low)-performance-issues/page138
(I know this ^ doesn't seem relevant but read the first post)
There are a few others but I cant remember the sites.

Even on the lowest settings i seem to be capped at 40 fps average, and on high, or very high, it is like watching a slideshow.

I have some high end stuff, my specs are= GTX 570 ti Galaxy GLH edition, 4GB ram at the moment (8 later) and a i7 2600k (running at 3.7 GHz).

Am I doing it wrong guys?

EDIT: Something else strange too, the scenes at the menus both run 60 fps, are they pre-rendered or is something weird happening here?

Lol, ok, just wanted to be sure, so youtube guy is full of it or what? I mean that benchmark was extraordinary, and he apparently used the same setup as me (roughly) some levels I get that kinda performance, but only on lower settings. He has another video or two with a 670, could that be what he was using?

I spent 1300 bucks on this rig and I wanna play arma :(

Also, I purchased combined ops and get much better FPS, could he have been running ARMA 2 benchmark through combined ops?
Even so, is still cant max out CO or OA, so I'm still curious.

I have gone through allot of the optimisation stuff, like configuring the applications 3d settings through the control panel, AND MODIFYING .cfg's.

I'm starting to regret buying the original... :pfff:

Well billybiff, that makes me certain this game should playable, especially with all the tweaks I've done.

I will never play dayZ, there are far better Zombie games with much more playability, smarter AI and player's that aren't actually 10 year old, that steal their families microphones for the sole purpose of irritating the crap out of me, but lets not go there.

AntiZig, thank you for you're relevant input, I can see where your coming from there, oh wait, I can't. Please leave, and take your non existent video cards with you.

All I want to do, is play ARMA 2, on my 1300 dollar PC, is that too much to ask.

the only relevant input so far has come from billybiff and jjmorrison, and I thank them, I know this game is hard to run, but I know for a fact that my performance is low for a reason, help me in finding what this reason is.

Relevant input only, thanks for your consideration.

1 - What settings are you actually using? Specifiacvally are you trying to max out the draw distance? If you are then you best ask the FERMI lab to borrow their supercomputers.

2 - Is this happening throughout the game or just on certain missions/areas?

3 - When this happens what % use is your CPU and GPU at?

4 - Your not going to max this game out at 60FPS but you should do better than you do

5 - Never believe Youtube videos for a start he shows no proof of hardware, settings or an FPS counter

For ARMA II your figures aren't actually awful

Try AA on normal, ATOC off and Post process off.

IF this improves it then keep AA on normal, put post process on normal

ATOC is a slippery one it's what makes the trees and grass look like trees and grass as opposed to angular things, problem is this eats your hardware for dinner especially in wooded scenes (On chernarus I gain 10-ish average FPS with ATOC off)

If you've seen an improvement with my above suggestions I would suggest you experiment with ATOC to balance what looks good to you with what you accept as performance.

It appears this thread is no longer under my control.

in arma 2 OA my draw is at 3.5 km, and in arma 2 its around 2km

My main concern is the fact that i never get any better performance in ARMA 2 that 40 fps, like im capped, and on the current level, manhattann, i only get around 23fps

I love how maximum game receives assistance in a thread that I started, yet I recieve almost no help.
All I want is for someone to verify a fix for me or verify that my card for some reason isnt good enough.

Actually everything I said to him equally applies to you, don't complain that nobody has helped you when firstly thats clearly all relevent to you and after asking for help you don't bother responding for days, maximum game kept this thread alive for you

Dont max out AA your card is not good enough to do that

Turn your draw down in OA

Don't have HDR quality maxed

Ensure texture memory is on DEFAULT

Dont max out PPAA your card isn't good enough

Am I doing it wrong guys?

Yes for $1300 you don't know how to build a gaming machine an i5 with a better Graphics card would have performed better.

Now as you sound like an immature self entitled little child thats all the help your getting from me.

As soon as someone generically says "max out this game" with X hardware instead of specifically mentioning what settings at what levels and what tweaks, you can generally throw their comment out as complete garbage. A lot of people don't even enable MSAA when they are claiming to "max out" a game, and then others read their statement and try to very literally max the settings for the game and find out that the person they were relying on didn't even have the most taxing setting enabled because they thought it was too decadent or something.

Also youtube videos are posted at 30 fps generally, and a lot of "maxed out" claims are backed up with videos only frapsed at 30 fps in the first place. Who knows what their actual framerate is and how often it fluctuates.
