Moving to a new apartment this week.

Getting Time Warner Cable Ultimate 100 package (100 download, 10 upload) (Yes, I know GROSS TWC, but that's all that is offered)

Should I get the Arris SB6141 (up to 100mbps, and 8 channels), Arris SB6183 (up to 300mbps and 16 channels), or Zoom 5341J

I know the 6183 is kind of overkill since it goes up to 300mbps, but I feel like future proofing isnt a bad idea..but then again I am on a super tight budget.

Edit: I have an Asus RT-N56U Router if that matters.

You need to find out which features of docsis3 they are using. To give you 100m they don't even have to use 4 channels to run that fast. It is unlikely they use 16 channels. What they have done in some areas is use for example 4 block of 4 channels to keep users at least a little separate. At least they said they were testing that a couple years ago, not sure if they still do that.

You could I suppose buy the 16 channel device because it will support lessor channels.

Still if you realistically look at what people do it is highly unlikely you will come anywhere close to 100m usage so for the vast majority of people it will be just as fast if you have 100m or you have 1g. Even things like 4k video only use about 16m and those are...

The only people that can even think to use 100m are the bit torrent guys and the ISP tend to throttle those if it is used excessively.
