My router is showing an orange-red light with my Cat7 ethernet cord plugged into my Windows 10 gaming pc, and my 100mbps connection is 60mbps on my gaming pc. On my older and way worse mac, however, when connected with the same ethernet cord to the same router port is a green light with a solid 110mbps connection. Is there a problem with my computer?

My router is the Arris TG1682.

PC SPECS:
Asus B350M
GTX 1070 Ti
R5 1600x @ stock

The Mac is an iMac late 2013 21.5" running latest macos and an i5.

Solution
The solid orange indicates a 100 Mbps connection (blinking light indicates network activity). I assume you tried other ports on the router with the same result, so all this points to something funky with your cable or the Ethernet port. The speed can also be set in the driver properties (Device manager->Ethernet Adapters->Right click->Properties->Advanced tab), the speed/duplex setting should be on auto-negotiate.

New computer with fresh copy of windows or an upgrade using the hard driver from another computer? Could this be a driver issue?
Per the user manual, a green light on the Ethernet port indicates a 1 Gbps connection and a amber light indicates a 100 Mbps connection. Something is up with your motherboard, because the LAN port is rated at 1 Gbps. I would check with another cable, just in case, but also physically inspect the port looking for a bent pin or something. You might need a flashlight.

The Ethernet port on the motherboard also has lights ... what are they indicating?

One is a solid orange light and the other is a flashing yellow light (on my mobo lan port)

UPDATE: Just checked the LAN port on my motherboard and everything looks fine. No bent pins, nothing out of the ordinary.

Woah! Changing the Speed/Duplex to auto negotiate fixed it! It was on 100mbps for some reason. Thank you! 😀
