Is Microsoft ignoring beta tester feedback in its quest to ship Windows 7 come hell or high water in 2009?
Is Microsoft moving too fast with Windows 7? That's the complaint coming from some members of the technical beta program. According to these folks, Microsoft isn't taking their feedback seriously, even when filed through their private beta tester feedback channels.

Development team responses like "won't fix" or "by design" seem to be the the norm for even serious issues, leading many testers to conclude that the product was feature complete (i.e. no longer subject to significant modification based on tester input) long before they received their first code drop....

Another case of damned if you do and damned if you don't. If it hits the shelf early, then people will complain it was rushed. If it hits the shelf later, then they'll complain it was late. MS can't win... it's critics will always find something to complain about. Of course, when you're at the top of the heap, there will always be someone trying to knock you down.

I like win 7. The only trouble i am having is with punkbuster when playing cod4. Otherwise no issues. I was having issues with ATI drivers, but 9.1 fixed all those issues. 9.2 runs even better.

i've had win 7 beta since the day it was released. I am having no issues. all i do is game, some pictuces and music. so my interaction is limited, but i am very happy with performance.

They may not be updating the beta, but that doesn't mean they are not putting the fixes and changes in the retail release.

They may put it out early and miss some things. They can always release an early service pack. I think service packs should be released more often.

The article seems to be overreacting a lot. While some interesting issues are raised they aren't put into any perspective. How many are "some beta testers?" 5, 9 30, 1000? How does he know that "won't fix" and "by design" are normal responses? How does he know the issues raised by those testers were serious? Everyone thinks the bug they found is critical.

The forum he links to is just a tech forum it is not an official or unofficial forum for beta testers and most of the comments there are just speculation.

I really don't think it is a good idea to make any decisions based on what appears to be wild speculation based on a few pieces of questionable info.
