Problem

Before going to bed last night, I updated my nVidia drivers to 368.22. When I got on my PC this morning, my PC froze ~10 secs after starting up on the desktop. The only change I did to my PC before this started happening was update my GPU drivers so I know it has to be driver related, the only problem is that it's all of the drivers. Furthermore, I have a dual monitor setup, both are plugged in via the DVI ports (BenQ 2420z and a Qnix qx2710). If I only have one monitor running, I'm able to use the PC for longer periods of time but it will still randomly crash. One minute I'll be on chrome and the PC will just freeze there, eventually making the screen go a solid color. If I have both monitors plugged in, you'll be able to see some blue checkered-like artifacts on both screens. When both monitors are plugged in, it usually only takes 2-3 minutes after startup before the PC just freezes or makes the screens go a solid color.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

I've gone into safe mode to make sure that it wasn't my hard drive, CPU, or something else causing this issue. I'm currently typing this without any issues so I know I can rule those out. I know that it's driver related because my system won't freeze after uninstalling the drivers via DDU. I can use the PC fine not in safe mode but as soon as I install any drivers, I start getting problems. I have also tried rolling back the drivers to when my PC was working fine and to stable drivers such as 362.00 but the PC still has the issues described. If I leave it, the system will sometimes restart on its own. I've made sure to do a DDU swipe and deleted any nVidia folders on my hard drive before installing any drivers. Windows updates are also not a factor because I have it set to let me choose when to download and install updates, so nothing else changed.

Edit: I have also made sure that the temperatures are fine. It's sitting at around 30-40C idle and doesn't go over 50C before it crashes. Can't test under load because it won't be on for that long. I should also note that when both monitors are plugged in, anything that makes the screens blink or refresh such as when the OS asks you to grant admin permission, the screens will turn solid colors (they're random) or go black.

At this point, I don't know exactly what's causing the issue, all I know is that it's driver related. I've done everything I can think of besides doing a fresh install of windows but someone else said they were having the same problem and doing a fresh install did nothing after installing the drivers again. If you guys have any other ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Sounds like it might be hardware related to the graphics card. Make sure nothing is overclocked and if possible try a different Nvidia card. It might be just a coincidence with updating your drivers. Try hooking up one monitor to just the motherboard graphics after removing the 980 Ti to see if that cures the problem. Then we know for sure its remenants of drivers not removed or the card itself.

Did some more testing and the problem only occurs when a monitor is plugged into the DVI-D port. So, I guess I can rule out the sometimes part. When I use the DVI-I port, regardless of which monitor, everything works fine. As soon as I use both DVI ports is when I start crashing. The Qnix monitor only uses DVI so I can't leave that one out. Guess I'll have to get a DP cable for the BenQ monitor.

Went through all of your suggestions as well, so thank you for that. Might just be time to RMA the card..
