I was playing AC: Unity and I noticed a ton of artifacting going on...at first I thought it was the game because with the whole "animus" thing there are sometimes things like this put in the game, but it was occurring way too much. I recorded a video with the artifacts:

I just updated my driver today to 355.98; I tested Witcher 3 on max and Advanced Warfare on max for a few minutes each and didn't see any artifacting in either.

I just got this card as a replacement not even a week ago, so should I RMA it? Running at stock speeds, never overclocked.

AC:U on PC is a very poor port and even more tired premise, IMO. The lag spikes and graphical inconsistencies are still prevalent in gameplay even though the game has been out for over 10 months now. If you have no problems with artifacting in other titles and see no problem running an hour of FurMark like ChumP suggested, your card is fine. No need to RMA.

It's weird, though, because I'm about 2 hours in or so and I haven't noticed anything until now...and I just updated my driver this morning. Could that have anything to do with it? Should I try to roll back to the previous version I had?

Also, while running FurMark, should I be sitting and watching it for that hour, looking for artifacts, or should I just let it run and come back an hour later and see if it's still running?

FPS isn't an issue for me...it's always 75+ on max settings and FXAA...but this artifacting is terrible. You had artifacting too? On what card?

It's very likely that the game is the problem.
When you're running furmark you should watch your temperatures and look for the artifacts.
Make sure you set furmark to xtreme burn-in and turn to 8xMSAA, just to see the stability of the card in extreme conditions.

Alright, thanks for the help. I'm using the Gigabyte G1 980 Ti which has really nice cooling so temps shouldn't be an issue, but I'll keep an eye on them.

Is it normal to see lower temps and less power draw at 8xMSAA (compared to 4xMSAA or off)?

Just messing around with it and right now it's running 8xMSAA with ~77% power draw, avg of 15fps, and temps stable at 66C...
Whereas with 4xMSAA power goes up to ~95%, avg of 26fps, and temps are at 71C within 2 minutes.

Update: Yeah, temps are definitely a lot cooler (about 9C) when running 8xMSAA than no AA...Is that normal? I would think increasing the AA would increase the power draw and temperature?
