As Jake_Barnes left TH forum ? justinblue

Hello,

Unfortunately, Jake_Barnes is no longer a moderator on the forums. I will not go into details, but, suffice it to say, there was a strong difference of opinion between him and people at Best Of Media over the forums, and Tom's Hardware in general.

He had been a great moderator and a resource to the site. His presence will no doubt be missed by lots of people. It won't be the same without him.

Besides Barnes, only RCPilot is left as administrator who was monitoring as such before I started posting here. I have posted to Great Grape Ape, Turpit and Comptiarep on the forum when they were members, not administrators as I know you have. We have helped thouands of posters with their questions. These guys barely post anymore. They're gone. Fight the good fight guys. I sense a dufus complex coming on. Haven't seen barnes in 48 hours? Is He Gawn? Retired?
 
If Jake_Barnes will post here again depends if he thinks he left on good terms I guess, because for someone whos posted over 19,000 posts it just seems strange for him not to leave a good bye message.
 

Some people find that life and work catches up to them and they don't have time for the Internet any more. This may well be the case. Also, another deterrent is the current rampage of rabid fanboys storming into every help thread posting links to prices and comparing Core i7, Core 2 and Phenom II. Barnes left because of "a strong difference of opinion between him and people at Best Of Media over the forums." Is the Pope Catholic. So guys on the Forum since Pentium I days are gone. I've been here since Socket A. Guys who think they write with cute style and technique are the future jury, judge and executioner of the forum. You know like if you say something to break the TOA you are tossed. The new moderators may develop a 'Moderator' forum where they can point fake smoking pistols at members and ban them calling them trolls and haters and bad for the community and so on. 'Tattle-tales' can spend their time and hang there with the moderators calling attention to every post they troll for and can find out of line with the TOA. Terms like 'Kapow' 'Bang' 'doublebarreled' your're gone will become commonplace. I'm pretty much an Angel and have never caused any problem, so I don't know.

Yeah, the nOObies to the computer enthusiast world are 'cute'. My girlfriend in college ran with the Hell's Angel's for a time. She was tough. Got a haircut one day. A friend asked me what I thought of Renata's haircut in front of friend's one evening. I said, "it's cute." When she got me home she siad, "WTF are you TALKING about you dumb Ef!" "Calling me CUTE...!" I thought she was going to set the house on fire and get on a plane to Hawaii and hide out. Or[strike] kill [/strike]stab me.

I honestly wonder why.

Perhaps it was the role of being a mod.

Jakey was a great mod.

I hope he continues to live in the Windows 7 forum.

Perhaps it was sadness.

Or perhaps it was the shock.

Only time will tell.
 
Yeah, the Mods are a good bunch of guys. They have been more than fair to me over the years. Don't know about anyone elese, but fair to me. Once I explained my IED was not an Improvised Explosive Device creating the problem, but it was my Intermitted Explosive Disorder that was at the root of any misunderstanding. I'm a much nicer, friendlier shade of mellow yellow these days. Shock? Sadness? Nah, He was no longer able to be a team player. It's kinda like when you are already paying so much tax to support your local public school district, you can't afford to send your kids to private school. 'Ya know. It finally gets so bad you are considered rich, upper class if you earn 45K a year. 😉
