my asrock x79 extreme-4 stopped booting up and wouldn't allow me to go to bios. the supplier went bust last month so took it to another shop for repair. they were going to replace the board but found that all 16G of memory was burnt out - replaced it and it worked. windows ran an update and it's now it's reverted on reboot. I can see a red light on the board with message'69' and have to reset it a couple of times but nothings working. weird message on shut down previously however with a windows box message cmd.exe error. Can anyone help, please? thanks.

Hi,

I looked up the error code.

0x69 North Bridge DXE initialization is started

It looks like the north bridge controller is fried on the board also.
That handles the memory controller bus of the motherboard.
It`s time to buy a new motherboard.

Just out of question what brand of power supply were you using in your system. It could of been the cause of all your problems.

Thanks Shaun,
after shutting it down, removing all peripherals, and pressing the reset button on the board tried again - nothing. tried again fifteen minutes later and it's booted up fine but with a different opening screen (AsRock information). the machine has been running ok all night so will wait to see what happens after a shut down.
