so idk why but i'm seeing asian text when i open the install setup for internet download manager. The same thing happens when i plug in headphones or something into the jacks for headphone, mic. I'll see a little pop up in asian text.

I did in the past do a work around for getting this game to work which required asian text configuration. I thought i got rid of it all but apparently not. I don't want to reformat the hard drive so i'm not sure what else to do.

I already checked under languages under control panel and made sure nothing looked weird there. anything else i can do?

This is likely a font-issue, and one of those nice little "You asked for it, you got it!" moments. Uninstalling the game, now, may not remove the font, but hopefully it's not one of those now-protected-by-Ballmer fonts that can't ever be removed, so it might be manually deleted. If not, just keep enjoying the game.

(There's also the screen-elements font-control possibility in Win7 (unlike Ballmer's 8), to re-select fonts for screen elements, too. Right click on the Desktop and choose PERSONALIZATION... then at the bottom, you might have WINDOWS COLOR, which opens up full customization for every window and pop-up element, including its default font and size.)

This "work around" was what? A script? or did you have to install anything? Be very careful messing around with things just to get a game working - it doesn't sound right that you had to do that just to get a game to work.

I would run a full Malwarebytes scan if I were you and also what i7Baby said check your programs in the control panel to see if anything weird or unusual is there.

If you have an uninstaller app that deletes all traces of uninstalled programs run that to see if anything is left over in your registry. You might find remnants of something you recently uninstalled in there that should've been removed at the time of uninstallation.

If you don't have one go to cnet.com and type in uninstaller software in the search box. You'll get a list of programs. Pick a free one install it and run it to see if you have anything in your registry that you shouldn't.
