Question Aspire 5 (A515-54-513C) memory compatibility

Hi all,

I'm looking to increase the memory in my Aspire 5 (A515-54-513C).

Currently it has 8gb of memory (4 on board, and a 4 gb stick)

From what I understand it has a total capacity limit of 20gb, so I'm looking to probably max that out.

I'm getting conflicting information from multiple websites as to what memory is actually compatible.

The compatibility checker from crucial is saying I can add a 2666mhz stick of ram into the board, but I thought the ram had to be all the same speed.

Could someone please direct me to a list of compatible ram?

The photo you have posted does not show up for me.

Acer is probably fine with having a dissimilar setup, given the stock ability to only remove one stick. Check your current RAM speed with the stock RAM installed (through taskmanager or alike). If that speed either matches or under your upgrade path, you are likely to be fine. A small catch may arise when timings are dissimilar. Look up the P/N of the current RAM stick, and look for "CL" or "Cas Latency" timing numbers (both of which are actually the same). If the memory has a hugely slower CAS latency number, it may interfere, as could it with a hugely faster stick (though less likely).

You could try posting some part numbers of what parts you have and what parts you're eyeing

If you don't mind waiting for the ram crucial says this will work.

Save a few bucks.

If the soldered on ram is 2400 the new stick should just clock down to that speed.
