I have just built a new system (specs listed below). I'm a newbie at PC building but wanted to try building my own PC. When I built it I did it first out of the case (on top of the motherboard box) and checked that it booted. which it did fine. I then continued to put it into the case. I then powered it on when it was inside and it also booted up fine and I managed to install windows onto it. But after windows wanted to restart for an update it will now not boot. Although power is going to it and the fans are spinning the motherboard starts beeping 8 times (I think its 8 times :S) as soon as I power it on then after a few seconds I hear the normal POST beep, and there is no display on the monitor. I have included a video link below which I recorded with my phone to demonstrate what is happening. I'm also using an older graphics card at the moment until I can afford a new one.

This is the things I have tried so far:

I've tried removing the memory completely but the beep code changes to the code that states no memory is installed.
Tried using only one stick of RAM and swapping the sticks / slots on the motherboard.
Checked all cables are connected and snug. Which they are.
Checked graphics card in another PC. Works fine.
RMA'd the motherboard back to amazon, where I bought it. And got replacement. Rebuilt with new motherboard. Same problem.

I cannot figure out what the beep code means. I have included a video to demonstrate what is happening (apologies for having it on the floor. Its in a spare room at the moment). There is no graphics card installed in the PC in this video. However even with the graphics card installed the problem remains. If someone knows what it may be it would be greatly appreciated.

no, there are 2 very short beeps and then 8 longer beeps of the same duration. so it beeps 10 times in total as soon as it is powered on. However, a few seconds after that, the normal POST beep is heard.

according to the link you posted, if its 10 beeps....

10 Beeps
Ten beeps means that there has been a CMOS shutdown register read/write error. This beep code is usually caused by a hardware issue with the AMI BIOS chip. A motherboard replacement will usually solve this problem, although it could be caused by a damaged expansion card in rare situations.

I've replaced the motherboard and got exactly the same problem with both motherboards. :S

Is the BIOS updated to the latest version? You have checked everything else I would check, besides the BIOS I don't know why you are still getting the same error.
