Asrock 990fx extreme 3 with amd 9370

Hello folks,

I was wondering if anyone runs the config I mentioned in the title (Asrock 990fx extreme 3 with amd 9370). I found several sites stating that the motherboard supports the cpu in question, but some sites mention the cpu is not compatible with the motherboard and the motherboard just burns out.

According to asus the cpu is not supported:

But republic of gamers and game-debate states the motherboard can host the cpu without any issues:

FX 9370 is also AM3+ processor but its an overkill for this motherboard.

The 9370 is wayyy hotter and doesn't improve performance that much from your current 8320.. Why don't you try to OC with your current CPU?

The thing is FX9XXX series use way to much power and they are hot as hell

Overclock the FX 8320. A 9370 is just a guaranteed overclocked FX 8320, but you can easily do it yourself. Make sure you have a nice aftermarket cooler, it will be necessary for that clockspeed.

Mine is already overclocked to 4.2.
Anyway to replace my CPU I also have to replace my motherboard due to its weak power supply towards the CPU the AMD support informed me.
