Hey guys so i recently build a new gaming pc! Specs are as follows.

Gamemax-w case
8gb (4x2) Corsair Vengeance ram
AsRock 990fx extreme6
Amd Fx-8350 clocked at 4.2 (idle temps 19 degrees 51 under prime95 load)
Corsair h55 water cooler
Msi geforce gtx 970
Gigabyte 550w psu
Crucial 240gb SSD
1tb Hard drive
5 case fans. None on side panel

I am really worried about my Northbridge temps. It idles around 40 degrees, and under prime95 load it shoots up to the mid 70s! Should I be worried? I tried touching it and it's so hot that it burns me if I leave my finger on it for more than a second. If the temps are too high any suggestions on what I should do? Oh yeah, I even removed the heat sink to see if I can put AS5 thermal compound, But instead there was a thermal pad I was worried if I replaced the thermal pad with AS5, It wouldnt make contact with the heatsink, So I decided to leave the pad as is.

I'm not sure what are reasonable temps with that board but my 970A-UD3 northbridge reached some absolutely ridiculous temps at times, temps on the AMD 900 series boards are known to get really hot aswell, it's usually fine. You're right about not replacing the pad with paste too.

Hey, Thanks for the fast reply. I'm running prime95 as we speak, and temps are pretty steady at 75c, I am a little worried. I think I had a blue screen a few days ago due to this. My overclock was higher though, I tuned it down a bit. The caps on the mobo are gold so hopefully It will be able to withstand all that head. I just want to figure out if this is okay and what is the max temps this mobo is able to withstand, before I start to worry.
