I've been looking around this forum and I've read some posts where people have an ASRock A320M-HDV mobo with a Ryzen 5 1400 and their default bios version, P1.30 doesn't support their cpu. I currently have the same mobo with the same version but haven't purchased a cpu yet and I am confused why people are having this issue and if I'll have one too. On the manufacture's site it shows the 1400 since "all" bios, meaning the default one should support it right?

Will I need to update my bios, is there any way of knowing if the mobo would post the cpu before I order it?

Solution
I wouldn't have dared bought that board especially with a 1400 since it won't allow any ocing. Get at least a 1500x just yo avoid slow stock soeeds of the 1400 or get a b350 Board
I build a computer and am having issues as well. however, mine is with the 1500x CPU and the A320M-HDV board. the board says that it has an integrated GPU, so i did not buy one. but when i turn it on, i get an error beep code of 5 long beeps. from what i've found online, that code either means that there's a problem with my CPU (https://www.asrock.com/support/faq.asp?id=2) or that the computer is "Without VGA card"(https://www.asrock.com/support/faq.us.asp?id=286).

so here's my confusion: when i first bought all these parts and plugged them all together, it wouldn't pass POST and i didnt get any error code beeps. so i contacted amazon, returned both my motherboard and processor, and re-installed the new parts. it still wont turn on but i now get these error beeps. but they make no sense to me...

Did you update your motherboard bios? It's been a few months but from what I remember, if you have the older bios version, the motherboard doesn't recognize your 1500x.

no i haven't. i'll go try that right now. i just assumed the current bios would be just that, current. should i just update to the most recent version?

From what I remember, the pre-installed bios version for the motherboard is P1.30, which isn't supported by the 1500x
You can confirm it on the asrock website and check.

The motherboard did support Integrated Graphics Processor "APU", but you are using an AMD Ryzen "CPU" which comes wihtout integrated Graphics.
