Hello,

My Asrock AB350m itx/ac is running the latest UEFI 7.4 with a Ryzen 5 1600. Recently, I purchased a Ryzen 7 3700X, but my computer won't start with it. I also tried using a Ryzen 3400G, but the system still doesn't turn on. (However, it worked with an older UEFI version in the past.) I'm not sure if I made a mistake during the UEFI update process. I don't remember installing the "Bridge UEFI" 7.0.

Now, I wanted to revert to version 6.6 or 7.0, but I receive an "Invalid File" message during the Instant Flash for both versions.

I clearen CMOS and removed Battery without results

Do you have any ideas on what I could do?

Can i downgrade with afuefi or will it brick my Board?

Regards…

Usually get the "invalid file" message when the file isn't named properly or isn't extracted from the distribution archive.

But also, try several different BIOS', going back one or two at a time, to find one that works to revert. When you get to the earlier BIOS, update one by one to make sure you get it fully updated. Using a 1st gen CPU, as you have, you should be able to go all the way back to the shipping BIOS rev to be sure. Asrock is known for needing to go in sequence to get all BIOS blocks updated.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What BIOS version were you on prior to the update? If you revert to an older BIOS, you're very likely going to brick your motherboard.
I own the Board since 2017
Im pretty sure i was on 4.4 some time.

I also habe the BIOS 7.4 on my Stick. Instant Flash accept that file. All files Are extracted. 6.6 and 7.0 are the 2 Last releases. he wont Flash.
I will try to Download all BIOS files since 4.4 and try to Flash when im home.

Going back to 4.4, a known stable and functional BIOS for your 1600, should make for a good starting point. Then update one at a time, paying close attention to all notes as you go.

I have tried every BIOS but Only 7.4 is working to Flash. It seems not possible to Downgrade via Instant Flash.
later i will try to Flash with UEFi Shell but it may Brick my Board.

That is a lot of BIOS revisions....

I recall running into a similar problem when I tried to revert an MSI B450 board. I had to use the AMI Firmware Update (AFU) utility in a UEFI shell and include a switch that tells it to update using the binary image with no validation checking. It is a risky so you have to make absolutely certain the file is correct for that board but it should work OK.

I think the reason they did that is to prevent reverting to a BIOS that wouldn't work with a later processor. But as I did, you have a 1st gen CPU that will work with any revision BIOS so you're good.
