Good Day All,

I have the ASRock ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming Fatal1ty Z97 Killer with Corsair 4gb ram installed. This was an upgrade into a custom computer my brother built me where my previous mobo (ASUS) died on me.

All is functioning well on the new board except 2 things. I have read extensively on how to fix them and nothing has seemed to work.

1. The USB ports don't work. Only when I start up the computer with my USB mouse installed does that one port work. If I take out the mouse while the computer is on it will not recognize it when I put it back in. I have USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports on the case as well, no functionality. I've tried to update the drivers and nothing

2. The computer will not go to sleep. The CPU fan and lights stay on in sleep mode. When I do sleep the computer, the screens will shut down but the CPU lights/fans remain. I've changed power settings as suggested and nothing has come of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This forum has saved me many a times, but I am unable to figure this one out.

Thank you.

SPECS:
Intel i5 processor
2x corsair 4gb ram
SSD Kingston

My BIOS date is from 05/13/2016: American Megatrends, Inc. P2.50, 05/13/2016
Would that be part of the problem? It's not super old.

I also do have all the latest drivers. I've even used a third party program to identify all the drivers that need updating and have done so.

Hi Elbert,

I've gotten some of the USB ports to work! I appreciate the help. However, the main concern is still unresolved. I still am unable to sleep my computer. Additionally, when I hit restart it takes forever and sometimes I just have to push down the power button and manually restart it.

Hi sorry for the delayed response and thank you for continuing your help.

So I'm not seeing any option in my BIOS to be able to reset to default. Is there another way to do this? Does it require unplugging or unpinning something on the mobo?

Second, my psu is a RAIDMAX Cobra RX-600AF-B 600W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V. It is haswell ready as stated in its specs.

It's still beyond me as to what may be causing my issues. I also noticed my windows updates are not working because my computer does not properly restart. As you know, windows updates requires restarting to finish updates and once it restarts it does not come back and I have to manually push the power button.

Do you have the same BIOS version? What is meant by set to boot drive only? I have 2 boot options and can pick which one is primary and which is secondary.

Most bios allow setting to default on the same screen you save and restart. If not tho you really need to learn resetting bios as it can be required at anytime. The way that works with all systems is unplug from the wall and pull the motherboard battery for 5 minutes. Replace plug up and enter bios to set the boot drive.

If your windows isn't updating I would suggest reinstalling windows. Could be an old setting causing the issue.

So I was able to reset to default settings and I did do the resetting of the BIOS via the battery. Still no luck.

I see a lot of threads regarding sleep states S1 through S5. I don't see these setting anywhere in my BIOS. Just thought you should know.

Got both, ran them, and still the problem remains.

Thank you for all the help. I will try the deep sleep setting. Where do I find that under?

Looks like its under advanced\ACPI config.

So I was able to find the Deep sleep, for me it is under Advance and then Chipset. It was disabled. I've tried both options S4 or S4-S5. Both did not fix the issues.

I might just have to return this motherboard.
