Question ASRock B360 Pro4 SSD Compatibility question

I have been wanting to upgrade my storage since i only have a HDD thats on its way out and I am wondering if i can use the ultra m.2 slot with a Samsung 980 PRO NVME M.2 SSD even if the motherboard has gen 3.0 (I dont mind the speed bottleneck since i want to upgrade later but I am asking if it will work with my current setup without problems).

PCI-E is backwards compatible, so it should work.
