Im building a pc for a friend. So do I need to bring my R7 2700 to him only to update the BIOS?

B450 boards require a BIOS update to support Ryzen 3000 chips so yes you will need to use your R7 2700 to update it then it should be fine

He actually likes the wraith prism more than the wraith spire and the 2700x has 8c/16t...

The performance jump from the R7 2700x to the R7 3700x is VERY compelling I would definitely go with the newer chip

Wow I forgot to mention that the first option was the R5 3600 (so r5 3600 vs r7 2700x. Both are 199.- in switzerland)

r5 3600 is about 10% faster than r7 2700x. That is for gaming. If your friend is doing any work that benefits from high core count than r7 is a better option. So go for r5 if he is into gaming. It generally achieves better performance.
