I had an ASRock 990FX Extreme3 which died just before a year and a half. This is out of warranty so I will have to front the cost of the board either way.

The computer was running on a stock FX-6300, 8GB of RAM, and an R9 270X, so I wasn't overloading it at all. I tested it on a power supply that I know works and it's not even posting.

Should I get another ASRock board or go with a different brand? I was thinking about going Intel anyway for more performance. Would that be a good idea?

I've owned several boards from several different brands and this one takes the cake for the shortest lived board I've ever owned. I know this was probably just a bad one of the bunch but ASRock support refused to RMA it for the random not waking from idle and refusing to shut down issues. I don't think I can trust ASRock anymore as a company because of their rude support.

Clearing the CMOS is among several of the troubleshooting steps I've tried. The board doesn't complain with no RAM in the slots all which tells me the board is not POSTing. I pulled out the board just a moment ago and the traces from around the MOSFETs actually separated from the board itself.
