I have an Asrock Z97 Extreme4 and I need to flash it.
I've been looking around and, while I didn't found anything about this model, it appears that modern motherboards have multiple bios to save the mobo in the case of a corrupted BIOS.
How many BIOS does my mobo have?
How do I use them if the main one gets corrupted during the flash?
Is it safe to flash the BIOS?
Is there any guide I should read before trying it (no previous experience)?

Your MB specifications. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97%20Extreme4/?cat=Specifications

It has two BIOS, one is the main and one is the backup. When the main bios has problem you may need use a jumper or remove the CMOS battery.

If your PC does not have any problem like hardware or cpu compatibility problem, you don't need to update the BIOS, because there is not 100% guaranteed safe in the BIOS update. But if you do it right you will be fine.
