What do you guys think of this Mother Board? It seems to be down right perfect, its got the colours to suit my build, expandability and all the features, great audio (a main concern) if i dont like the audio there are 2 PCIe16x slots up top so i can have the card in the top slot for the best cooling and if i dont like the the audio i can move the GPU down one slot and add a sound card, the board has everything and i am yet to find something wrong with the board or something its missing, my only gripe is that i dont know much about ASRock, alot of people seem to use their boards in budget builds and i havent seen a board as good as this one from them or a board as good as this one period, and its price is amazing, originally i was going to get the MSI Z97 Gaming 7 but this board doesnt cost as much and is alot better by the looks of it- http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=28223&cPath=1491

I live in Australia and this price is amazing, if you go through the motherboards section you can look at others, thanks for any help :)

cool, thats awesome guys, im planning to overclock a 4790k on it pared with 2 Sapphire R9 290X Tri-X's in Crossfire, this is a high end build but i dont have all the money in the world and have been saving for a year and a half, this seems to be a perfect board especially for me and im SUPER happy that you guys said its good, thanks :)

Does anyone know if you can move the GPU down and use a sound card there without losing lane bandwidth to the R9 290X's? is there a PLX chip? noones reviewed or given any info on this board unkownofprob can you try this?

So obviously with 2 R9 290X's and a sound card it would be X4 x 2 and X1 x 1, thing is alot of people reckon that the 290X's will use more than 4X bandwidth because crossfire runs through the PCIe bus. I was thinking about going X79 and getting a 4820k as the performance difference isnt too much, i would save money and the chip may last longer as i wont have to delid in the future to replace the TIM under the IHS also those 40 lanes would make life easier. Thanks for your help so far.

On the website it says full size PCIe 2.0 X16 (X4 Mode) which means the top slot is running at X4 and i honestly do not know the point of that, i think its running through the chipset, intel says you can run PCIe 2.0 X8 through the chipset, i might not go X79 anymore as the sound card isnt much of an issue as i decided on an external sound card.

I can't decide. which would be better. Right now the Asrock and Hero are close in price on Newegg, if you grab the Asus in the combo deal which sports 16GB G.Skill 2133, i7-4790k, and the Asus VII Hero. If I put together this Asrock with the 4790k and 16GB of G.Skill 2400 CAS 10, it's only maybe 10 to 20 bucks cheaper. So I'm at a loss here. Think the Asrock with the 2400mhz would be a better buy than the Asus paired with 2133? Both sporting the G.Skill Trident X brand. (I'm a long time G.Skill fan)

Edit: only a $7.00 price difference...

As am I 😉 , the Tri's have been my number 1 for over 2 years now.... In all seriousness either will make a great build, might look and see if one has a feature you like and want (i.e. the Hero has a very good audio DAC set up) but for overall general use, gaming, etc either will make you happy and both are good solid selections

I went with the Asus Maximus VII Hero, combo deal. Ordered already. I don't think the 2400mhz and 2133mhz RAM will be that much of a difference (combo came with 2133mhz CAS 9). I have a Sounblaster Z already but if this onboard audio sounds better I'll definitely use it, to free up more lanes for my dual 780 ti's. I've got the Swiftech H220-X coming to sit on top of the 4790k. All going in a Corsair 730t. Everything should be here in time for my Birthday this coming Wed. 😀 Nice little upgrade if I say so myself.

If there would have been an actual review or two out on that Asrock I may have gone with it. Closest review I could find was for the Z97x Fatality. Which didn't even have the same onboard audio. I've never used Asrock or Asus, so it was a hard decision. I've had terrible luck with MSI in the past and there support is the worst I've ever had to deal with. Gigabyte wasn't so bad (I'm just not into the aesthetics they run with) and my last build was an EVGA mobo. EVGA wasn't bad but wasn't the greatest either, especially for OC'ing.

Well hey guys this is no longer a worry for me, im going X99!! Im getting an ASRock X99X Fatal1ty Killer (i have a new found love for ASRock boards 😵!!) a 5820k and depending on the new NVIDIA cards ill get the new GTX 880/980 (alot of rumours) or an R9 290X, all AMD GCN cards (for eg. R9 290X) support DirectX 12 and the new openGL plus Mantle soooo yeah also im either getting an Asus Xonar U7 or an Audioengine D1 for a DAC (cant decided).
