Hello! I need some help on this. I currently have an Asrock Motherboard G41M-VS3 2.0 and it has 4GB RAM Kingston 1333, I can alternate the RAM 1066 at the BIOS, I am going to upgrade to 8GB RAM Dual Channel, so these are my questions.

Will any DDR3 RAM Dual Channel will work? I know I will have to run them at 1066 MHz since the official site says the mobo allows 8GB RAM, but at 1066 MHz, but any will type and MHz do? Say I but a 1600 MHz one, I am taking that the mobo will downclock them to 1066, right? But it will still recognize them, right?

Is there any problem with the type of RAM that I might buy? Does this 775 mobo needs a certain type of 4GB stick to work at Dual Channel? I looked at the RAM compatibilty list at the site and it only lists 2 RAM models to work at 8GB 2x4 at 1066 MHz. Is this of importance or can I just buy 2x4 RAM Dual Channel DDR3 and that will do?

Thanks!

Solution
The board supports an XMP at 1333Mhz. All compatible RAM will run at 1066 on your board. I'd stick to no more than 1333 to avoid issues but yeah a 1600 would run at 1066 at default.

To get dual channel any 2 modules in a kit will work. As long as they are the same it'll run dual channel.
