Hi!

Overview: My motherboard is an ASRock H67M-ITX. I had two HDs plugged into it, one as a backup storage, the other with Windows OS. Some time ago, I purchased one Crucial SSD 1TB and installed Windows 8.1 on it. The other HD remained plugged in into the motherboard, as a backup storage. The desktop worked as usual. These days, I purchased a Sand Disk Ultra II SSD, in order to replace the old remaining backup HD.

Issue:
1. When I retire the backup HD, Crucial SSD will boot Windows as usual
2. When I plugin the new San Disk Ultra II SSD as a backup in the motherboard, the desktop will not boot.

Instead it will display the first lines of the boot message: Version 2.02.2015. Copyright (C) 2010 American Megatrends, Inc. - The current version of Intel ME firmware is 7.0.4.1197. backup is 7.0.4.1197. Entering setup..." ---- and stops there. I turn off the pc, unplug the backup San Disk SSD, the pc will boot normally using the SSD Crucial.

Any advice to solve this issue is welcome! 🙂

Hi Petrossa, many thanks!

I tried that. In BIOS, there are two Boot options. The first is configured to Windows Boot Manager. The second to the Crucial SSD (where there is installed Windows 8.1). When I setup the Crucial SSD as the first boot, and disable the second boot, the PC will not start, it displays an error message somewhat "The driver has not the OS" or something like that.

Well, if you have any ideas more, they are welcome! 🙂
