Asrock h81m-dgs r2.0 won't boot from usb

Just setup a new computer. When starting up, I've gone into the BIOS screen to change the boot option to my usb but it still comes up with message "reboot and select proper Boot device or install Boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

Anyone know how to get around this?

try pressing F11 to bring up a screen to manually select the boot device at the time the system starts, they can be a pita.

It's a pretty straight forward process, does the USB key boot other PC's? have you tried a USB 2.0 port just for the sake of taking the USB 3 controller out of the equation?
