Asrock h97m pro4 which is best dual channel configuration?

I am having trouble with the whole dual channel dimm situation. I have an asrock h97m pro4 micro atx. With 4 dimm slots. What would be the best and appropriate places to put both my 4gb sticks?

Slot2: ?
Slot3: ?
Slot4: ?

Hello,

you should look into the user guide of your motherboard. It should be mentioned there.
On my Asus Z170 Pro 2 Slots have different colors. So they recommend to always put 2 memory sticks into the fitting color.

On my board these would be Slot2 and Slot 4 or Slot 1 and Slot 3.

I have 2 colors black and blue but my manual doesn't tell me which to put it in. It said slot a2 and b2 are populated so I decided to o ut it there.

Yes. A2 and B2 should be populated if you only have 2 memory sticks. The Link i posted is the manual you should have gotten with your motherboard. But if you lost it or something like that, there you have the link to download it. 😉

Polulated just means that this specific slot should have a memory stick inserted. So you can see which slots you should put your memory in depending in how many memory sticks you have etc.

So populated means exactly that what the word means. This slot has to be populated. 😉
