First here is a list of my system specs.

Motherboard: ASRock H97M Pro4
CPU: Intel i5-4430 3ghz 6mb Cache
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3
Vid Card: EVGA Geforce GTX 960 2GB
OS: Windows 8.1
Hard Drive: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB
Power Supply: Corsair CSM 650watt

I've had this rig for about 7 months with no problems, and recently upgraded the vid card to the GTX 960 and began having these problems. I immediately thought it may be the vid card, but after some tests I think it might be the motherboard. Here is a brief description of the issues I'm having. Games I play are going black screen, and then sometimes the system shuts down and reboots only to have no signal to the display. And then sometimes upon booting up the computer, I get no signal to the display, or there is a delay in the boot-up after I hit the button. A friend of mine who is a computer technician ran a hammer test on the RAM and it read quite a few errors, so we tested more RAM (brand new out of the box) and same thing. We both found out that a faulty motherboard can cause the test to read errors, and the probability of having two sets of bad RAM is unlikely. Also, the only way to fix these problems are to re-seat either the RAM or the Vid Card, or both, to temporarily fix the problem. I've tried switching RAM and vid cards over the past couple weeks, and running different tests only to end up with the same problem. We also tried updating the bios for the mobo, but still no luck. I've already e-mailed support at ASRock in the hopes of either getting an RMA or a solution to the problem. Unfortunately ASrock's website doesn't offer a whole lot of information on how to contact customer support, so hopefully tech support will respond soon. But I wanted to reach out on Tom's Hardware forums to hopefully gain some insight into my problem, any advice or feedback is much appreciated, thank you.

It is the same in both black and blue slots, and we tested the ram modules individually, and we updated the Bios on Sunday to version 1.50 and the problem still persists.

I'll check the CPU socket. The strange thing about this problem, is that it didn't start until 7 months after the build when I installed the new vid card, I guess defects can lie dormant before showing symptoms, I don't know. I've tried troubleshooting everything but the CPU and motherboard, so hopefully one of those will fix it, unless there is some kind of compatibility issue between the hardware that I don't know about.
