i have 16gb ram showing but only 7.86 usable

http://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/N68-VGS3%20FX/ It looks like you straight up can't use 16GB of RAM; officially the board tops out at 8GB, which is what you're seeing by the 7.86GB usable. Honestly, I'm surprised you can even boot the machine with 8GB sticks.
