Question asrock website states my mobo supports gen 3.0 pcie but i cannot get my card to use 3.0

hello guys my specs are ryzen 3 1200 asrock a320m dvs r4.0 mobo gtx 970 gpu 8 gigs ram

basically ive been having performance issues when i noticed my gpu was running in pcie x16 gen 1.0 i reseated my card and now it reads as gen 23.0 my mobo website says its gen 3.0 but in the bios i can only change to gen 1 or 2 am i missing somthing here? a gtx 970 supports gen 3 speeds and apparently so does my mobo any ideas????? thanks

ps i have tried running the stress test in gpuz but the gen doesnt change so im gussing power management isnt the problem everything is set to high performance or maximum power

im not very incline to. i havnt got a clue where to start and first thing i read was it can brick my board. why would the bios need updating it has pciex16 3.0 on the back of the box

anyone? id rather not do a bios update i bought this board cuz it had support for 2nd gen ryzen and pcie 3.0 out the box clearly stated all over there website and on the box it came in.
