Hello everybody
I have a relatively new PC (1½years) that has been running smoothly, but yesterday it could not boot into windows, but I still had a signal on my monitor.
In an attempt to remove some usb cables (while reaching from the front) i accidently pressed the "CLR CMOS" button, WHILE the PC was powered on. The manual prescribes that it should be done when the PC is off.
When I turn on my PC now there is no signal, all fans and LEDs are on, but no signal from the GPU. Have I burned off something by clicking the CLR CMOS button while the pc was powered on?
To turn off the pc i must press the power on/off for several seconds before it shuts down. Since i couldnt boot into windows I dont think it "gets that far".
The motherboard has no integrated video output (?), My GPU is HD7950.
Unfortunately I'm not the most technical person in terms of Hardware, so bear with me.
So far I have tried the following (solutions found online):
1. Connected CLR CMOS pins 2 and 3 on the MB, plugged in power, moved the jumper back to 1 and 2 and turned on pc.
2. unplugged all cables connected Pins 2 and 3, removed MB lithium battery in a few hours. Put the battery back in connected pins 1-2 back and connected cables and turned on the pc.
3. Various other combinations compared. CLR CMOS + battery removal (different orders and time intervals)
4. Tried with a GPU from a different machine (that worked)
5. Tried to put the GPU in the second PCI slot. (That the remaining slot is no room for the GPU)
I really hope I do not need to dismantle everything onto a new MB (CPU is water cooled and I didn't install it). So I really hope someone with knowledge within the field can help me out.
Thanks in advance!
