Hi,

I am really in need of some assistance. I am building a computer using the X99 Extreme 4 motherboard and when I turned on the computer I am not getting any display to my monitor. All of the fans seem to be working, including the ones built into my video card, but aside from that all I get is a solid red light down towards the bottom next to the little blue box that says "HDD Saver". And I don't know if it is relevant but I have the computer connected to my monitor using the HDMI slot on the video card. And the video card is inserted into the PCIE 1 slot.

Here is what I am using for everything

MOBA: ASRock X99 Extreme4 LGA 2011-v3 Intel
Processor: Intel Core i7-6800K 15M Broadwell-E 6-Core 3.4 GHz LGA 2011-v3
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB (4 x 8GB)
Power: Corsair AX Series, AX760, 760 Watt (760W)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB FTW GAMING ACX 2.0+

The only other posts I saw like this were being caused by the memory being in the wrong place or not fully slotted. I don't believe that that is what is happening with me. They seem to be fully slotted in and locked, and I have the 4 cards in A1, B1, C1, and D1 (all four of the black slots). And I also have both spots on the board connected to the PSU.

If anyone has any idea what the problem could be I would greatly appreciate it. Or at least some steps to try to see if I can figure out if a particular component is bad. Let me know if there is any other information you need also.

there are red lights for CPU, RAM, GPU, which one is glowing? I am not familiar with your Motherboard, but using the Manual you should find out which it is. You got a new Broadwell-E CPU and as far as I know your Motherboard maybe has a BIOS Version that is not or may be not compatible with the new processor. I had a look at the site and they Claim BIOS Version P3.30 is required to use the new i7-6XXX. So the question what BIOS Version does your Board got?

I dont know. Are you experienced in building Computers, are you sure everything is fine connected? Have you checked if the red light represents the CPU state. It can be a lot of things, even that your CPU is faulty. I am not sure if the BIOS Version casues this. It might be, but I am not sure about. So hopefully somebody here knows about this. Only if you find an secondhand CPU that fits on the socket it might be a solution to find out. Xenon CPU would be a cheaper solution anyway. But for the Price of a new one you can almost get a new Motherboard like ASUS x99-A 2, which directly supports the new CPUs. Because either you gonna spend about pretty much Money for maybe something that doesnt help you to fix your issue.

Hey I got a a solution on the manufactures forum. Posting it here on the off chance that someone is searching for the same info at some point.

I am told that it is definitely the BIOS on the board (thats not to say that I didn't hook something else up wrong as well spinach thats definitely possible) My board came in with BIOS version 2.1 and for the i7-6800 the board requires BIOS version 3.3 to be compatible. So yes getting an older processor for the sole purpose of updating the BIOS would work, but would be expensive. So what I was told to do is that for this board I can buy a BIOS chip that is updated to the current version and replace it on the board directly.

Another thing you could try, since they are socketed DIP packages, is pull a BIOS chip out and use a programmer (if you have access to one) to flash the latest version and then pop it back in the board. Saves shipping cost if you do.
