Hope this is the right section of the forum.

I put together the following components:

Asrock X99 Extreme6 3.1
Xeon E5-1620v3
32GB Crucial DDR4-2133 Quad Kit CT4K8G4DFD8213
AMD firepro w7100

I get a long beep when I boot the system with the following code id sequence:

b9, b0, BA, b9, 19, Bf, d7.

I have tried to:

Install VGA in different PCI slot
Install only 1 RAM in channel 1
Re-install CPU - socket seems to have no issues

Probably RAM is not compatible?

It has been many hours that I am on it and I am quite frustrated as I am not able to locate the problem.

Thank you in advance for the help!

Solution
This COULD be it! I am just throwing stuff out here.

The last thing I could think of his to try all different SATA slots or buy an HDD and try all of the SATA slots.

Hi Sleetz, thanks a lot for your answer. I am quite sure that the motherboard supports Xeon. From asrock site: "Supports Intel® Core™ i7 and Xeon® 18-Core Processors Family for the LGA 2011-3 Socket". The warning in pcpartpicker referrers to the fact that "Intel Xeon E5-1620 V3 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor does not include a stock CPU cooler."

Also thanks to point out the potential incompatibility issue with the graphic card. Regarding this I am also very confused because the manual says:

[strike]PCIe slots:
PCIE1 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slot) is used for PCI Express x1 lane width cards.
PCIE2 (PCIe 3.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x16 lane width graphics cards
PCIE3 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slot) is used for PCI Express x1 lane width cards.
PCIE4 (PCIe 3.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x8 lane width graphics cards.
PCIE5 (PCIe 2.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x2 lane width graphics cards

The firepro w7100 needs a "long" PCI 3.0 x16, but there are only "short" PCI 3.0 x16. I tried both PCIE 1 and PCIE 5 slot, while thinking that it should run just fine on 2.0.

Could this be the issue?[/strike]

The manual of the extreme6 3.1 says:

PCIE1 (PCIe 3.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x16 lane width graphics cards. PCIE2 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slot) is used for PCI Express x1 lane width cards.
PCIE3 (PCIe 3.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x16 lane width graphics cards. PCIE4 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slot) is used for PCI Express x1 lane width cards.
PCIE5 (PCIe 3.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x8 lane width graphics cards.

Regarding Memory: according to the memory support list Ram is compatible (they posted the ID for the single stick - CT8G4DFD8213 - and I was looking for the 4x 8gb)

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20Extreme63.1/?cat=Memory

Regarding this this long beep. Asrock manual talks about 3 short beeps, 5 long etc., but I did not read anything about this long continuous beep that just sounds like an ECG flat line.

I am not sure how accurate pcpartpicker really is but I assume when the graphics card does not show up with the motherboard already selected then it would not be compatible. These are odd issues for example on pcpartpicker the 7000 shows up but not the 7100.

Thanks Sleetz, I also think that the issue may lay with the card as d7 error seems to be a VGA related issue.

Regarding Pcpartpicker, they name it AMD 100-505724 with w7100 chipset in the card list. Once selected it shows up as amd w7100 with no compatibility warnings. http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

I think that a PCI3 x16 compatible card should work on a PCI3 x16 lane.
Technically, as xeon 1620v3 provides 40 lanes, it should be possible to install up to 3 of these cards (16x, 16x and 8x).

What could be the compatibility issue? I was thinking that probably the card is "newer" than the BIOS and by updating the BIOS everything would start to work, maybe.. No idea tho regarding how to update a bios without being able to access it.

Update : the long beep was due to a "fan failure alarm" coming from the server chassis that I am using, not from the mb. After unplugging the power from the fan control device that is part of the chassis and connecting all the fans to the mb the sound stopped. After getting consistently error 99 and no sound I tried to hit F2. Dr. Debug displays "A6" followed by a single beep.

Single beep should be a good sign but still nothing in the monitor and A6.

"A0 - A7 Problem related to IDE or SATA devices. Please re-install IDE and SATA devices. If the problem still exists, please clear CMOS and try removing all SATA devices."

I am using a Samsung 850 ssd.. Why I still don't see the BIOS? I mean, I should see something even without hdd, right?

Thanks Sleetz, problem solved after debugging with the help of asrock guys:

"· Turn on the power to check if Dr.Debug showing code 19, 45, or 53 (indicates no memory installed), then turn the power off.
· Install single memory module firmly on A1 slot (black slot), switching another memory module if problem still persist.
· Turn on the power to check if it showing code d6 (indicates no VGA card installed).
· Install discrete VGA card firmly with 6+6 pins PCIE power (if applied). Try on another PCIE slot if it same issue (if it’s available slot).
· Plug monitor to VGA card output.
· Turn on the power to check if it’s get the screen POST or last Dr.Debug code shown on mainboard."

It turns out that the problem was the monitor, Dell U2414H. I needed to select the input.. I felt so stupid. :)

Thanks a lot for the help! :)
