Fresh build.
Mobo - ASRock x99 WS
CPU - Xeon E5 2640v4
Ram - G-Skill DDR4 4x8 2400mhz
GPU - Gigabyte R9 390 G1
PSU - EVGA 750w PSU

As soon as I power on the machine I get an error code 19 on the debug display. I get nothing on my display but all the system fans continue to spin.
I've tried:

  • Removing all but 1 stick of ram. With each stick in case I had a bad stick.
Removed GPU just to see if the code would change.
Checked all power connections to the board.
Checked for bent socket pins and reinstalled the CPU,
Cleared CMOS in between all of these steps.

The ASRock "dr debug" code list doesn't list this code specifically and I'm running out of ideas. I've ordered a cheap stick of slower ram to see if that changes anything. I've also contacted ASRock technical support but its been almost a week and I've heard nothing from them.

Solution
well I believe there socked / they are on my asrock exe6 z87 ?? I guess you could request one ?? never tried it ..

my learned golden rule is when I buy a new board all ways get a chip that's supported under first release or ''all'' bios's if the chip I want to use don't then just order the cheapest chip that is in order to flash with or just go with the best that will ..

look over at e-bay and see if a pull out chip can be got for cheap that you could use just to flash ?? [just looking over at e-bay that's not much of a option $$$]

don't know I guess hope asrock has updated bios chips to swap out with ??

wow the cheapest I found ? that's works under all bios's ...

well your chips is not supported o you need a 2640 ''V3'''

no V4 listed ??

now what this means ?? 3.10 3/25/2016 DOS 6.71MB Support 2016 Q2 coming new CPU. in the latest bios ??? mat contact asrock support to clarify if that bios gives support to V4 chips ???

bit they were not added to the cpu list at all or yet ?? so you got to kinda call it unsupported

The note on the bios update was specifically the reason I chose this board. I've had no luck contacting anyone at ASRock support so im feeling pretty SOL with $1800 worth of hardware. Is there a better way to contact ASRock support other than the form on the their site? I've even called the number listed on their site and that turned up nothing but a full voice mail box.

seemed like they had answered me with in 48hrs. last I contacted them ? bottom line is if its not in the list you got to call it un supported regardless.. there pretty good about updating the cpu list if that was a change that would of supported the V4 chips ???

nothing else get a V3 chip or rma to se if where you bought it from will swap out or then sell the V4 on something like e-bay and get some cash back on it ??

That's not a viable solution. The v4 of this CPU was chosen for its specs and price-point. The fact that I can't get response from anyone at ASRock seems a little ridiculous for the amount of money I spent on this board.

and your sure you got that latest bios in ?? most boards may ship with there first release bios on them and then you got to flash it to the one you want to use ?? [of course you still need a supported chip to boot to flash]

the board shipped with bios 1.00 on it so then you need to flash to bios 3.00 for that chip to work

should be a little white sticker with black numbers of the bios stuck on the boards bios chip-

[see blow up birds eye view of board and look at just above the dr debug led and see the 2 stickers that state P.1 representing that's got the bios 1.00 on it from the factory ]

I'm on BIOS version 1.7. Which isn't the newest. But I can't update the BIOS because the system won't post. It would be great if ASRock would send me an updated BIOS chip.

Solution
Hi,

I can confirm that replacing the Xeon V4 cpu with a V3 in order to flash the BIOS, helps. Thus :

- Be lucky to have a V3 around and put that in (otherwise no way to get to POST) ;
- Boot/Flash the BIOS with 3.x (my X99M was 1.70);
- Put back in the V4 processor (2640 in my case).
- Good to go now; no Code 19 any more.

well )) this solution is full of logic ) its right
motherboards never ship with latest bios installed on it
so according to that you cant boot your pc because your MB doesn't support CPU yet . you just need a i7 2011-v3 any CPU for BIOS updating thats all
I imagine how you shit in your pants when your system rejected to boot up )))))))))))

Peter,

First, thanks a bunch for posting this, it gave me the confidence and info to try this myself.

Can absolutely confirm the exact same issue/problem at first with the same setup.

Wouldn't boot/post. Went a got a v3 i7 chip and a stick of ram. Installed that, booted fine. Downloaded the UEFI Instant Flash to a usb. Updated it. Took out the i7 and ram. Put the Xeon back in with the ECC ram, booted fine!
