Hello there

I recently upgraded to a i5-6600k so I got a new motherboard (ASRock Z170A-X1) and 2800 mhz DDR4 Ram. After I set everything up i realized that my Ram frequency is at 2133 Mhz in bios. I tried the XMP profile there for 2800 MHz and I get a black screen when I use it. I've updated the motherboard bios to the latest version and have the same issue. Someone recommended me to change the voltage of the ram or leave it at 2133 Mhz. I would like for it to run at 2800 Mhz but I never changed ram voltages ever.

The Ram sticks I have are this (http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_1326&item_id=086616)

Edit: Here is a picture of my CPU-Z memory tab.

I see the timings there are 15-15-15-36, on the RAM specs it says 16-16-16-36. Not sure if that means anything.

Solution
There is no real such thing as Dual, Tri or quad based DRAM, all sticks of DRAM are individual 64 bit devices - the mobo and placement of the sticks determines how they run channel wise. The channel bit is a marketing thing

I tried increasing the Dram voltage and had the same issue, I took pictures of my bios setup. I didn't see anything about VCCIO.

Here is the XMP profile, It's 16-16-16-36 as the ram stick says

There is the voltage setting, I didn't see anything about VCCIO (unless its the same as VCCSA)

Also when you say CPU OC, would I be able to use the ASrock OC setting of 4.2 Ghz?

Lastly one last thing. When I change the dram setting and get the black screen. I get no display at all, not even back to bios at all. I have to take the CMOS battery out and keep turning my computer on and off then I get back to the bios (It resets everything). Is there another way to reset the bios?

It seems the only voltage values i can change in the voltage configuration place are DRAM voltage, CPU Vcore voltage, vccsa and GT voltage. Everything here is stuck on auto and won't me change it. The ones i cant change are called PCH +1.0 volt, vcc pll voltage and cpu internal pll volts.

Alright, i oc the cpu alittle bit, used the xmp 2800 mhz profile with 1.25 volts, pt the vccsa at 1.15.

When i pressed apply, the computer restarted but immediately shut down. It turned itself on again for 2 secs theb rebooted by itself. Now it's stuck with no display showing.

P.s: thanks for taking your time to help me, appreicate it.

After some digging around. it seems the RAM I had before is compatible with X99 motherboards, not z-170. I exchanged them for F4-3200C16D-16GTZ (which is listed on the supported memory on the motherboard page) and have the same issue when I load the XMP profile.
