Asrock Z370 Extreme4 high voltages for low OC on i7 8700k

Hey everyone, just built a new PC with the Asrock Z370 Extreme4 mobo and i7 8700k with the Noctua DH-15 cooler. Since I used to own an MSI G43-Z87 mobo with my i5 4670k I was used to using adaptive voltages when OC'ing and I got to know my CPU's voltages for whatever clock speed I was going for.

With my new mobo however, since I'm a by no means an experience OC'er I wanted to try a solid 4.7GHz on all six cores however the Core voltage being sent to the CPU was around 1.344-1.376V when under load, And since my CPU does 4.3GHz at around 1.16V with the turbo im sure my voltage should be nowhere near that high to reach that little of an OC.

Any help with how I could reduce the voltage being sent to the CPU without having to use a fixed voltage would be appreciated.

Here is an overclocking thread for your motherboard on the 8600K though the same applies for the 8700K. As huntlong has said, you should be able to manually overclock at a much lower vcore for the 4.7GHz that you are looking for at well under 1.26v which will make a huge difference on your 8700K temps..

He does show the Offset mode at just 20mv so scroll down the page to see actual screen shots of his BIOS settings...Though there are many guides on your motherboard so definitely learn so that you can get the lowest vcore for the highest clock speed that you want..

Im not sure what exactly your ASROCK BIOS is like but you should be able to set adaptive voltage and then manually set a voltage limit say 1.2v for when the CPU boosts to max clock speeds. Just try to find that option in your BIOS

Thanks for the response, might as well ask though since ive just run a prime95 test my CPU is running at stock 4.3GHz at 1.072V, is that decent for an i7 8700k?

Yes that is more than fine...The key though is at an all core 4.7GHz which should be straightforward for the 8700K what is the vcore when manually adjusting....fingers crossed...

The offset was annoying me as it was going from anywhere from 1.26V to 1.32V and the temps were higher than usual, so i just put all cores on 4.8GHz and 1.25V using fixed mode and currently on CPU-Z its taking 1.216-1.234V at 4.8GHz on all 6 cores with max temps of 70-74c on prime95 stable. Is the voltage im running safe to run 24/7 in fixed mode? Im getting 25c idle temps and ~50c in games.

I was kind of worried about the constant voltage, but if its perfectly fine I'm keeping this OC. Thanks for the help mate.
