I plan on getting an i5-2500k and a sweet board to go with it. i've been looking at the asrock z68 boards and was wondering if there's any point in paying the extra £40 for the extreme 4 gen 3 over the extreme 3 gen 3 which has the 2 x16 pci express 3.0 slots im looking for?

Also im wondering if anyone knows about waterblocks that will fit this board, for cooling the chipset and the nb etc.

Get the Ex3 Gen 3 unless you need a lot of onboard USB3 ports.
Both of them SLI at 8X8.
If you really think you need to watercool the chipset, that's for you to investigate.

There's probably more of a difference that I'm not aware of, but the only "practical" difference I've seen is that the Extreme3 doesn't have a USB 3.0 header onboard for your front panel I/O.

I have both of these boards in 2 different rigs and both overclock very well, bios is clean and easy to use and they look great.

As for watercooling, check HERE. It's only what EK sells, but it'll give you a good idea of what's out there.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but any idea on if those mosfet and chipset water blocks match up to the extreme 3 gen 3 all that well?
