It's that time of year again. I'm looking at a CPU upgrade (this is my first time please be gentle) and I'm looking at the Intel Core i5-9600K. I've looked at the list of compatible CPUs over on AR's site and while the 9600 wasn't listed I thought I'd check with the experts - and if this isn't an option what would you guys recommend? Budget lies at around ~$300.

Also, my current CPU runs hot at about 65-70°C. Is it worth investing in a separate cooling system, whether water or otherwise?

Solution
1) What cpu did you have?
2) If you had the K version cpu, and use the stock cpu coller, yes, it is worth buying an aftermarket cpu cooler.
3) For $300 you can't upgrade to i5 9600K, because you need the 300 Z series MB+ DDR4 RAM too, and your MB can't support the i5 9600K.
4) May buy the used i7 3700K. https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z75%20Pro3/#CPU If you had the i5 or i3 only.
