I'm trying to set up a wake on lan (WOL) feature on my desktop computer. It works great, but after about 15 minutes of the pc being powered down the computer disables the ethernet port not allowing any traffic in.

My question is what do I do (if I can) to prevent the motherboard from shutting down the ethernet port?

Look in the BIOS, maybe some feature is turned on and that feature is - as you said - lan power down. Search for similar features too. If you can't solve this issue, might be something to do with the PSU or the M/B.

Control panel, device manager, network adapter, should be a tab for power management and a box for ALLOW THIS DEVICE TO WAKE THE COMPUTER, check the box
