I have an older PC that I'm thinking of updating to Windows 10 64bit. It is home built (by me). I'd like to know if any Asrock z77 owners updated to Windows 10, and how I should proceed. I did not see an update on the BIOS page, but did see Win10 updates on Asrock's "Download" page.

Currently, I have a wireless connection. I am using an old Buffalo USB wireless adapter (my network says it is a "BUFFALO WLI-UC-GNHP Wireless LAN Adapter"). I also use a wireless Logitech K350 keyboard and M510 mouse. Samsung C27F591 monitor. Radeon 7950 GPU. Intel 3570K cpu.

Reading some stuff online, I'm a little concerned/confused. I'm not very PC literate, so I may screw up some terminology. I think my SATA controllers will need an update to work on Win10? How will that work when the drive that Win10 is installing is connected to those controllers? Same with my video and keyboard/mouse (both are essential). Wireless USB---will I have to disconnect everything and carry it into my living room (where my router is located)? It's about 30-40 feet away from my PC (or just buy a long Ethernet cable)?

Reason I want to update is for better security since Win7 is no longer supported.

I mainly use my PC for internet purposes, and I play games occasionally. I'm looking at getting a few modern games, so I'll probably update my GPU.

Probably have less headaches if you could temporarily use a wired keyboard and mouse for the install. One the install is complete, then you can "reconnect" your wireless ones.

You generally don't need a BIOS update for an operating system update. You won't need to worry about your monitor, either.

Install what drivers are available for your motherboard, GPU, and wireless card (probably a good idea to have these downloaded to a USB BEFORE you start the install).

Just installed Windows 10 today. I've been putting this off for a while. Prior to doing so, I updated my graphics card BIOS--the new Bios for the 5600xt gives a performance boost. I also updated my MOBO Bios--the latest BIOS provided protection for the Intel Spectre vulnerability. Also downloaded all of the needed drivers and installed them after Win10 installation....now, uploading some games. Still have to add more software. Everything is running great so far.
