ASRock Z77 Extreme4 is 12V power plug needed?

The 12V power plug coming from my power supply is not long enough to reach the 12V power plug on this mobo. I am wondering what I should do. Is this necessary for the motherboard to work properly? Is there some sort of extension adapter or something along those lines that I can buy for the 12V (8 pin) adapter to make it all the way to the plug?

Going to go ahead and play it safe and not turn on this new computer until I figure this out. Thanks ahead of time for any answers you can provide for me!

yes, it's definitely needed, you should be able to get an extension.
