Asrock z77 extreme4 mobo driver causes windows crash

I just built my first PC and ran into a major problem with the motherboard drivers. Basically everything was working great until I downloaded and tried to install the following two drivers:

Broadcom_Win8-64_Win7-64_Vista64_XP64(v15.4.4.1_64Bit)
ASMedia_SATA3_Win8-64_Win8(v1.3.8)

Hardware:
cpu- i7 3770k
video- gtx 660
mobo- asrock z77 extreme4
os- win8 84 bit home...

I installed the broadcom driver, restarted computer, then in the middle of the sata3 driver install the computer locked up completely. When tried to restart it said windows couldn't load and I chose the option to restore. Went back in and noticed the broadcom driver wasn't installed so tried to install it again and locked up again, restore...

Tried to install drivers from the disk and again computer crased on the sata3 driver install. Any ideas?

First of all , why do you need a sata3 driver ? That software you mentioned is for ASRock 990FX Extreme9 ASMedia SATA3 Driver . And second what HDD/SDD are you using ? its specifications. Maybe the bios settings is not set to sata3 mode because of your HDD.

Western Digital WD Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

I got the driver straight off of asrock's website downloaded for the extreme4. Also, the crash occured when the sata 3 drive tried to install from the disk that came with the motherboard. There are sata 3 and sata 2 plugins on the motherboard. I have the optical drive and hard drive both plugged into the sata3 slots, is that OK?

Not sure what you're referring to. When I go to Bios here are the settings:

Sata controllers(s) = Enabled
Sate mode selection = AHCI
Sata aggressive link power management = enabled
Hard Disk S.M.A.R.T = Disabled
AS Media Mode = AHCI
Sata boot rom = disabled
