Hi, I am having problems with the USB 3.0 headers on my Asrock z77 Extreme4.

Ok, so my case's front panel is connected to this header connection on the motherboard. My front panel has two usb 3.0 ports. When I connect my usb 3.0 drive to one port it registers OK (i.e. no popup indicating that it could perform faster if connected to super-speed port), but when I connect to the other port I always get: "this device can perform faster if you connect it to a super-speed USB 3.0 port".

I have tested this with both 1) a replacement front panel, and 2) a usb 3.0 bracket connector. So there is definitely an issue with the motherboard and not the usb 3.0 header cables.

I am using Intel USB 3.0 driver ver:1.0.4.220 and have upgraded the bios to v2.50.

Running speed tests by transferring a 4gig file to my USB 3.0 drive I get:

78 MB/s when connected to the good port
43 MB/s when connected to the problematic port

Any idea on what the issue could be?

Any help appreciated.

Check the cable from your case to your motherboard. If the cable came with your case
you will have to check the pinouts on your motherboard to the cable pinouts.
You might also check the cable for proper conductivity on each line (check for broken lines if the pinouts are correct)

I also had the same problem (I connected a memory stick Voyager GT USB 3.0) and in any port it game me this error. The problem was that I connected the memory stick not directly in the port but through a 20 cm USB cable (actually this I figured out that this cable was only USB 2.0, you can see easily that a cable is USB 3.0 compliant or not (http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/usb_3_explained.html)).
So connect your device through a blue-colored plastic USB 3 cable or directly in the blue-colored plastic USB slots from the mother board.
