So i was having some problems where i couldnt overclock my i5-3570k. So i was looking around on the internet to see how to fix it and people said to update your bios. So i did to the latest 2.10 .
first i installed it on the windows and it installed but then when it wanted to reboot it couldnt and failed to launch up windows. So i tried to install the bios update with instant flash but that didnt work either. Still the say problem. Is it my windows 8 thats the problem? and also was i fixing the first problem (cant overclcok) the right way?
i have a spare hdd with windows 7 on it. i shall try and use that

Solution
Pull the power from the computer. Then remove the CMOS battery for 10-15 mins thats the simplest way. (I'm unsure of where your jumpers are on that motherboard.)
You can't use a spare hard drive that had windows 7 installed for a different computer you will need to do a fresh install to test that theory. (drivers for motherboard, Hard drive, etc will be incorrect)

You may want to reinstall the old Hard drive and check your bios to insure that it didnt change some setting that made it stop booting from your hard drive.

Then let us know and we will see if we can help further.

That spare hard drive is an ssd with very little space. I was originally using it on my current build but i ran out of space so i bought a new hard drive with more space and i cloned the ssd. Everything cloned well. i then verified windows again and went on with my life. later in the month i wiped my ssd and installed windows 7 on it and all the drivers needed. (mobo drivers and graphics). This hard drive has been used with no problem on this computer.

understood, just making sure you were aware i have seen many people attempt the other.

you might try going into bios then loading optimized defaults and then starting the computer.

This is often necessary after doing a bios update. if that works then make changes to your bios as you see fit.

assuming you of course have not checked every option inside the bios, that may help.

Sadly i tried that and i tried to install the old version i had on the computer. I tried installing the new update and clearing the cmos afterwards. didnt work. Im not quite sure the correct way to clear the cmos on my mobo but i looked in the manual and they arent too detailed.

Thanks man for the help I really appreciate it. The pins are located at the bottom of the board near the USB pins and PCI express slots. I will try clearing the CMOS with your idea. In the morning.

Still the same problem 🙁 (didnt work)

Ok an update. I can run my pc in safe mode.

All Right!! i got it working, after clear the cmos with the battery i ran it in safe mode and ran super anti spyware on it and fixed it!
