Question ASrock Z790 Steel Legend

Hope I can get some help here, at 70 hard to understand some things.\Been reading about pcie lanes and not sure if I build my
system right. Ok Asrock Z790 with a MSI 3060 GPU and Samsung 990 Pro. I put the GPU in PCIE1 and the 990 pro in M2_1 slot, is
this correct for max performance? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Yes. Just be wary of this line; If M2_2 is occupied, PCIE1 will downgrade to x8 mode.
