Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking. But remember, THG gets a % of the sale when you buy from their link. You are encouraged to do so.
THG doesn't set the prices for motherboards. In case you haven't been paying attention, motherboard prices have skyrocketed over the past 5 years more than any other component. Sadly, $380 is legitimately in the midrange of the market now where halo boards easily clear $1000, and the highend is over $500.

There are plenty of good, solid 90 series motherboards for around $150-180.

The prices for a motherboard is insane nondays. Got this h670 for 100us... pci 5 on graphics, 3 nvme pci 4.0, four slots ddr4 5000mhz+ capable boost 180w on cpu. Support thunderbolt via add-on card.
Only drawback Can't overclock

Not sure if I agree with the Lost premium look in the conclusion, the motherboard looks great, it's just unfortunate that good motherboards these days are expensive and it was the smart move by Asrock to come up with the Lite version of the Z790 Taichi, if I had to buy one It would most likely be this one.

I won't label any board as having a "premium audio solution" if they're going to hobble it with only two 3.5mm jacks.

I have a Logitech X530 5.1 speaker set I don't plan on changing any time soon. I bought an open-box Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Master specifically because it was the last high-end by them to have 5.1 jacks and ALC1220 (rather than the USB-linked 4080 and 4082 which have reports of pops and crackles due to issues with the interface).

Didn't hurt that it had the ESS Sabre DAC either or was half-off. But I'm not buying any board without a full set of jacks; that includes Gigabyte's latest, too. If the board is only designed for headphones or an optical receiver connection, that doesn't do it for me. At that point, I need to add external premium audio to my "premium audio".

2.5Gbps and 1Gbps ethernet ports, not the just the one.

Still a board with thunderbolt is usually a premium but even then it seems to be about $100 over priced. I last bought a thunderbolt 3 board for $260, and that still seems to be the going price.

ah yes yet ANOTHER review lying about the PCIe/NVMe situation. 12-14th gen only have 16 lanes for PCIe 5 - that 5 NVMe MS slot puts the top/gpu slot into x8 mode and is actually disabled if you have something in the second pcie slot.

probably even for a 4090, running pcie 5 at x8 is fine, but please now, dont act like that m.2 slot doesnt come without its own small print that you and many youtubers as well keep magically forgetting about

Anyone knows if it is possible to check BIOS version on the box? I'm planning to assemble a system with 14th gen proc, only compatible from bios 2.xxx up, so I dont want to risk buying a mobo with incompatible BIOS version as I won't be able to update it...
