Asrock Z87e-ITX USB Issues

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but here goes.

I have just built a new PC with the following specs:

Motherboard: Asrock Z87e-ITX
PSU: Corsair CX600
Processor: i5 4670k
Ram: 2 x 8gb Corsair Ballistix Sports 1600mhz
GPU: Asus R9 280x

The problem I'm getting is that my wireless mouse is a bit jerky, which it never was before. If I overclock the motherboard using the bios pre-configured settings, it gets much worse. Also when overclocking, the on-board bluetooth malfunctions, reporting in Windows that the USB device failed to identify itself. It seems to me like there is some issue with the USB controllers.

What could be the reason? I know I'm pushing it with a 600w PSU. Could I be underpowering?

There's a lot of stuff that could be going wrong here, and not really enough info to narrow it down.

600W is plenty for your system, overclocked or not. You could run it on less, so it's highly unlikely that the amount of power available is causing problems.The CX range are pretty mediocre at best, and in a machine of that kind of budget, it probably wasn't the best place to save money. Having said that, any decent branded PSU should be fine out of the box really, so it's unlikely the type of PSU is an issue. That isn't to say you can rule out the PSU entirely, it might be failing in some way.

As a general suggestion for fault finding, you need to replace/remove as many components as you have the capability to. If you've just built this, then it's quite likely you have old components which you might be able to use to see if you can narrow things down.

Based on what you are saying, I'd instinctively assume it's a fault with the motherboard's voltage regulation, or with the PSU, but both are fairly hard to nail down as a culprit.
Without wanting to patronise you, it's also perfectly feasible that this is a standard temperature/driver kind of issue, so it is worth making sure all of those are comfortable.

Thanks for that. Patronise away: this is my first build from scratch and I only know the super basics!

What additional info would be useful? I don't have any spare parts to try, but I can extract a lot of info from the Asrock BIOS and Windows Utility. I think I can see voltage in, and loads of other voltages that I don't know what they mean. Is there anything that I should be looking out for?

The fact that it is jittery even with default settings makes me think that something is slightly amiss. My temps are fine. CPU rarely goes above 40c with my Evo212 cooler. However it seems that the mouse is most jittery under heavy CPU load.
